Men to Take Major Role at the Conference
In keeping with its theme Toward a Greater Diversity, the conference has successfully engaged many leaders and champions for the FTM community to take part in its 23rd annual gathering. Past conferences have been decidedly transfeminine-oriented, but organizers made concerted outreach efforts for 2008 to transgender men, as well as people of color and allies of all ages, to ensure a broad range of issues, identities, and dialogues are represented in Tucson. A Special Town Hall Meeting
How did Tucson get to be such an accepting Community?
Tucson has a reputation as one of the most trans-friendly cities in the country, both in policy and mind-set. But how did it happen? Come to this unique forum, where Southern Arizona community and civic leaders and elected officials will examine how Tucson became a place that accepts its gender-variant citizens. After a guided panel discussion, the floor will be open to questions and comments from the audience. There are sure to be lessons learned we can all take back to our own home towns.
Moderator: Amanda Simpson (2004 Democratic Nominee for the Arizona House of Representatives and former Tucson Commissioner on GLBT Issues)
Panelists: Raul Grijalva (US Congressman and former Pima County Supervisor), George Miller (former Mayor of Tucson), Peter Likens, PhD (former President, University of Arizona), Nina Trasoff (Tucson City Council), Amelia Craig Cramer (Chief Deputy Pima County Attorney and founding Co-Chair, Tucson Commission on GLBT Issues), John-Peter Wilhite (Tucson Commission on GLBT Issues), Stephen Russell, PhD (Board of Directors, Community Foundation for Southern Arizona LGBT&S Alliance Fund and former Commissioner, Tucson Commission on GLBT Issues), Kevin Maxey, MD (co-founder, Southern Arizona Gender Alliance)

Evening Excitement!

Tuesday brings our annual Pool Party and Bathing Suit Contest, this year with a Mexican buffet and live Mariachi music. Wednesday, the hotel will provide a Welcome Reception for the conference.

Thursday, the whole conference moves out to Old Tucson Studios, for a night of dinner, western dancing, and entertainment. (All included in the regular registration package!)

On Friday there's a picnic dinner provided by the hotel (imagine trying that up North!), and singer-songwriter Namoli Brennet, a Tucson local, makes her return engagement at an IFGE Conference. We liked her so much in Philadelphia, she's back!

Saturday, it's time to get all spiffed up for the Gala Banquet, which will be followed by some terrific T-entertainment and dancing. Here's our line-up for the evening: Musician and singer Stevie Gold, performance group Dragstar Cabaret, writer-performer Martie van der Voort, and rock band Too Much Information.
