When a Parent Transitions
Friday 3:30 PM
This workshop will discuss the ways in which several families have chosen to support their children when a parent transitions. Considerations will be made with regard to developmental appropriateness of information (i.e.. keeping the child's age in mind) and will briefly discuss therapeutic methods that have allowed the children to develop resiliency and a better understanding of their parent's experience.

Dr. Michele Angello PhD
Dr. Michele Angello works with gender variant youth and adults. She offers individual, group and family therapy, as well as corporate education and training on a variety of issues of sexuality. She has presented internationally on her work with trans-youth and working with children of transitioning parents. She facilitates several monthly support groups for transgender adults, youth and parents. Dr. Angello has appeared on CNN with Larry King as well as the Tyra Banks show.
 
Monica Canfield-Lenfest
Monica Canfield-Lenfest is the adult daughter of a transgender father. She is working to expand the Kids of Trans program of COLAGE (www.colage.org) and develop further KOT resources. She is interested in meeting other people with transgendered parents and advocates for a deeper understanding and sensitivity to the issues facing family members of transgendered people.
